Our Leadership Team

Cam McDonald

Cam has always called the Comox Valley home, and is no stranger to the small business world. The youngest of four brothers, he worked in his father’s store from a young age, learning the value of excellent customer service. Cam started his own career in the trades with carpentry before moving into electrical. His experience with carpentry has made him an even better electrician, bringing skills and knowledge few electricians possess.

Owen Kaefer

Owen was born and raised right here in the Comox Valley, playing basketball and learning the value of teamwork and collaboration. He began his trades career in Whitehorse as part of the carpentry team for a residential home builder. Returning to the Comox Valley with a passion for trades, he started his electrical apprenticeship. Working his way up to  journeyman electrician, Owen has served as the lead electrician on many custom, high-end home builds throughout the valley.

Why are we Eighty Eight Electric?

The name Eighty Eight comes from a deeper meaning than just a number. Trevor McDonald, the brother of co-founder Cameron McDonald, passed away from cancer at the age of 39. Trevor was the definition of what it means to be kind, loyal, reliable and hardworking. All things we aspire to for our company.

Trevor was the oldest of the four McDonald boys and was always someone to look up to when you needed him - someone you could count on. In his later years, Trevor always wore the number 88 in the sports he played, so it seemed fitting for us to follow his lead by naming our company Eighty Eight Electric. Not only as a salute to Trevor but to show that we also strive to have all the same characteristics Trevor showed. At Eighty Eight we want to strive to evolve and be the company our customers count on.
